Special instructions for Windows Vista:

The merge module that is distributed with the installation package very often will not configure the BDE correctly under vista. If you see an error message containing the words "Merge Error" then the software did not install correctly; almost, but not quite. Follow these steps:

• Open the control panel
• double click on the "BDE Administrator"
• you will see a window like this open
  
• if you do not see an entry called "IHMSA scores" (and you probably won't) you must create one.
• click on the word "Object" in the menu
• click on the word "New" in the drop-down from the menu
• you will see something like this
  
• click on the OK button
• a new entry should appear in the left pane called "STANDARD1" (or something similar) -- it should have a box around it at this point
• type "IHMSA scores" (omit the " characters) and then press the Enter key
• in the right hand pane click on the word "path"
• a small button should appear at the right hand end of the path line
• click it then navigate to the folder named "template" -- usually this is C:\Program Files\IHMSAmatch\template (below is the path from my system, yours will be different but you should see the something similar)
  
• when you get there click the OK button
• now you should see a red and a blue curved arrow just beneath the menu at the top of the window
  
• click on the blue one
• a dialog box will open, click OK to save the changes
• now you must repeat the entire process for the "IHMSA shooters" entry; beginning with the "Click on the word Object" instruction above. This time name the entry "IHMSA shooters" instead of "IHMSA scores". Also the path will be different when you get to that point. The path for this entry should be the "matches" folder not the template folder. When you have made both new entries in the BDE Administrator you can close it and you should be able to run the match software.
